Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.5: dual wielding, console mods and an Edgerunners 2 prequel

Cyberpunk 2077 has a new free update. Update 2.5, the Edgerunners 2 Update, adds dual wielding, cross-platform mod support and a quest tied to the anime’s second season, which premiered on Netflix on 20 October.12 It launched on 22 October on PC, Mac, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with Switch 2 and the Mac App Store following in the days after.3

The Edgerunners 2 quest

The tie-in starts as a gig from Wakako. V meets Weak Kingsley, one of the main characters of Edgerunners 2, during a job in a new location, Night City Prison.4 The quest is a prequel to the series, so playing it first gives Episode 1 more context.4

It comes with Weak’s full outfit, his revolver Coronation, and a new radio station, HKGN 102.FM, which plays music from both Edgerunners seasons.5

Mods on consoles

This is the change with the longest reach. According to CD Projekt Red’s patch notes, mod support works on PC, Mac, PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2, and more mods will become available over time.13 It is curated: players pick from supported mods in a Mods panel in the game, rather than installing anything they like.8

How it surfaced

The update leaked before CD Projekt Red’s reveal. A content creator published a video detailing it, then made it private, but fans had already shared the details.14 The leak got the headline features right: the Double Trouble perk in the Cool skill tree, and two side quests.15
